Apple Remote Extra Abilities

/ 26 May 2007

When I first logged into my user account on my MacBook one of the first things I did was pair the Apple Remote. After that I tested the remote by navigating though Front Row. Then, by accident I realized that in any application the remote can control the music playing in iTunes. I also learned that Keynote has it’s own profile for remote control without Mira. That was extremely good since at the time Mira wasn’t given access to the remote due to a flaw that the “2007-04” security update made. The very next morning I updated my mac with the “2007-05” security update, and guess what, Mira now has control again. Talk about good timing for Apple to get around to fixing the flaw. Anyway, it’s helpful to learn that Apple had some of these remote functions built-in.
