Keychain Locking

/ 31 March 2007

Last night my dad was using my mac to try to debug this Gmail POP issue, in the process he needed to look up my Google password in my keychain. For the safe security of my passwords he of course needed my login password. He (for security purposes) doesn’t know that password. So he ended up clicking “Deny” in the dialog box for the password. With that he succeeded in locking my entire keychain! I had to restart (you can also just log out and back in, but restarting is just as fast on my mac) to unlock the keychain. So what’s learned from that is that if you press “Deny in a “Keychain Access” or “Keychain Scripting” dialog box your locking your whole keychain until you log out and back in again.
