The NXT light sensor is also bigger than the RCX light sensor. But the NXT light sensor has many better functions to it. The most notable function is that instead of just reflected light like the RCX light sensor, the NXT light sensor can also do ambient light sensing, meaning that it can look at the existing light, not needing to shine light out to be able to sense the light. This can be extremely helpful if you have the sensor in a place where you’ll be looking at it a lot, or just to get more accurate light readings.
