Coping Without Air Conditioning

/ 29 July 2006

Yesterday my dad found some mylar blankets in our basement. We cut them into strips the size of our windows and put them up, that evening we went to REI and got some more (since we didn’t have enough for the whole house). It was marketed as an emergency blanket. Once we put it all up, we left to be in air conditioning for brunch, once we came back parts of the house actually felt somewhat cold. This is just an example of a way those of us that don’t have air conditioning can deal with the heat wave.
