iLife and iWork Updated Yesterday

/ 27 March 2009

At around dinnertime yesterday Apple sent out a whole slew of updates to their most recent major releases of both iLife and iWork (‘09). In total it’s 5 updates that add up to about 176.5 MB.

The iWork ‘09 v9.0.1 update is 42.75 MB and “is recommended for all iWork ’09 users”. Apple, as usual, has provided no further details on what the update consists of.

The iMovie v8.0.1 update is 24.53 MB and “improves overall application stability as well as addressing minor issues related to usability”. That means what?

The iWeb v3.0.1 update is 14.23 MB and “addresses issues when publishing to an FTP server and other minor issues”. Hey, maybe now it supports Windows FTP Servers as well as UNIX FTP Servers.

The iPhoto v8.0.2 update is 87.86 MB and “improves overall stability and addresses minor issues in a number of areas, including Faces, Places, photo sharing, and slideshows”. We’ll find out what that turns into on the user-side shortly.

The iLife Support v9.0.2 update is 3.97 MB, requires a reboot after installation, and “improves overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues. It is recommended for all users of Aperture, iLife 09, and iWork 09”. Well, that probably is invisible to the average user except when it comes to the media browser.

You can obtain these updates either from the above links or via Software Update. As the updates will enforce a system reboot you may want to wait until the weekend to install them. Also, it is always recommended that you backup before installing any software updates. Enjoy, Alex.
