Issues With The iPhoto Library Bundles

/ 14 August 2007

One serious issue that I’ve read about the bundles that the new iPhoto stores it’s library in is that single changes to them cause some backup systems to copy the entire bundle each time something gets changed. I backed up twice today to be sure where SuperDuper! lands on that scale. To my great thankfulness it properly understands bundles to look at them as normal hierarchy trees. Therefore at least the application I currently use to backup weekly doesn’t need to backup all 14.66 GB of my iPhoto library (shown in iPhoto as 8.6 GB) each week. I trust that Time Machine will be in the same place and not need to transfer the entire bundle each backup as well. Enjoy, Alex.
