Shocking Time Difference

/ 27 March 2007

You may realize the basic fact that walking around on mountains is a task that can take a long time. Today Eric, Nathaniel, and I went on the 38A up to Khalenberg (no clue on the spelling), and from there walked down. This walk was the same as one we went on just yesterday that took us (all 4, Mary and the 3 of us that did it today) about 1 to 1.5 hours to walk. Today we went from the Khalenberg restaurant/ lookout to the Betvovengang area in Nußdorf at the bottom of the mountain in about 30 minutes. There are two basic reasons for the sudden difference in time it took. The first is that Mary stayed behind to write a paper. The second reason is that we cut across a vineyard to have a nicer (and apparently shorter) walk down to Nußdorf. We also happened to take a more direct route back from Nußdorf to Grinzing, instead of the taking the 38A to a mall for groceries then the 38A to Grinzing we took the 39A to our favorite gellato (softer ice cream) store near us, Rukenbaurer, then we took the 38 back to Huchkagasse. All in all the trip was cut down by close to 1 whole hour.
